I recently bought a pair of old english bantams. The male is mostly black with red around his neck and red saddle feathers. The hen is mostly black with salmon on and under the breast. The man I bought them from thought it came from a black to bb red crossing. If that is true, would the male be black or bb red?

Can you post a picture, and I'd be suspect of them since the person who sold them didn't even know thier proper color ID?

Look at the pictures on the OE Game Bantam Club site-

If you don't see the color variety there- make up a name, offer some trophys at shows, sell them for a fortune on eggbid and seek official recognition. That seems to be the way it works.

Is there a color of OE or Call ducks called ''oops'' or ''fence jumper'' yet ? I think ''pretty color'' is taken.

Beat on Hummer until he gives it back! pretty color sounds better than oops and fence jumper is a Runner duck with a track coach.

Evy - could we go with the "Tolbunt" term that the Polish folks use? I believe it translates as "crazy colors."
Sam  Or maybe just the letters "DPT" which could stand for "Drake Passing Through."

Just to return a bit of sincerity and helpfulness to the thread  , for NCW the description sounds like it could be a "kinda" Brassy-back, although usually the male top color would be more on the line of a brassy/orange color rather than red. I believe that Brassy-backs on occasion did come from a Black x Black Breasted Red cross, depending to some extent on the genetics behind the black line. Check out the pictures as Neil suggested and you can see if it matches.

Thanks for the replies. I have bb red and black moderns. I like the brassy back color and thought of creating a few. I won't be selling any ultra rare as you say trophy birds. Just interested in creating some from my moderns.
