The National Meet of the American Sumatra Association will be held on December 13th & 14th at the 92nd Annual Oklahoma State Poultry Show, held at the Heart of Oklahoma Exposition Center in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
The Indiana Poultry Breeders Show, which will be held this weekend in Connersville, Indiana, incorrectly lists the Sumatra National Meet at their show. This event was held there in 2007. From the looks of the list of meets in the Connersville show catalog, they may not have updated their meet listings from 2007.
Regarding the American Sumatra Association - We have a group of folks who are dedicated to re-energizing the club. Some of those that are officers and/or interested in helping are: Dee Mejstrik & Doni Christiansen of Iowa, Christina Blanch - VP & myself-Pres., of Indiana; Lindsay Halbach, of Wisconsin & others. If you are interesting in becoming involved, please let us know.
Goals for this club are to create opportunities for enjoyment, education, involvement, rewards and pride for all members. We want this club to be an organization that benefits all who raise and admire sumatras. We want to connect those who wish to raise sumatras with those who do. We want to educate ourselves and others through the synergism of sharing our experiences of the management and outstanding traits of the Sumatra fowl. We want to encourage the breeding and exhibition of sumatras. We want to honor those who show sumatras, through awards, recognition and the placement of ASA meets throughout the United States
We are currently working on a new website. I'll update this group when it's up & running.
