Hey All,

Inputting entries for our show and someone has entered a Saxony. Is this really a heavy duck? The info I've seen says it is, but it appears to be more of a medium duck?

Yep, Saxonies and Silver Appleyards are both Heavy Ducks and both about a pound smaller than Rouens, Pekins and Aylesburies.

Hello, I have 2 saxony ducks. when they are in summer molt, they appear to be of a medium/large size, but it's winter here in Connecticut , with a foot of snow and my girls have their winter plumage now. They are much, much larger now. I have many breeds and these have the best winter coats on. I highly recommend this breed, friendly, beautiful and great layers of huge eggs!

Yes, they are in the heavy duck class in the US. Unfortunately, they are much smaller than European ducks.
Most in N. America are crap. If you want the best, contact Fred Farthing in Missouri; he has the best over here.

Does he have a web site? I have a pair of Saxonys and just love them, wouldn't mind having a few more good ones. My Saxony duck just hatched 6 babies and is mothering 13 of them very capably! She's a good girl!
