My application was delivered today to my USFWS office, now, how long before they send someone out to inspect my facility, or will they? I am not hiding anything, just wondering if they inspect every applicant. It also said that it may take 2-3 months, is this turn around normal or have you experienced a quicker turn around?

Cant wait to get my permit to sell waterfowl!..............Jason

I've had a Fed. permit for 25 years & never had a visit. I had to beg for transfer papers once & the poor guy on the phone apologized & said they were ALWAYS at least 6 months behind in their paperwork. All they're concerned with is getting their yearly fee. Some states that require a permit also are a lot more viligant. Be sure you're legal there as well.

You hit the nail on the head there! I am waiting for Gov Patterson to raise the NYS fee.

On the transfer papers, early last year I ran out.........called and they told me they would send some out or just use the 3-186 pdf file and print some forms. I have been doing it that way (printing) for quite a while now without a problem.

I have my California permit as it is required to keep the wildfowl i have, the turn around time for applying for that one and receiving it was about 2 weeks, not to shabby for California F&G!!! It also went up about a dollar from last year ($18.75 a year), just like everything else. Heck, a fishing license is $70 by the time you get the license, the 2 rod stamp and the special stamp to fish the river and bays. The funny thing is, i have a really good friend who is the local CAFG warden, and his paycheck hasnt increased!

Eh Jeff, i see that you can print out the 3-186 form on the USFWS website, i imagine you have to print out three for each transaction, one for the buyer and one for your records and one to send to USFWS?

Have a good weekend guys and thanks for your experiences!...........Jason

NYS's Game Bird Breeder lic that allows you to sell runs $50 a year currently.........outrageous in my opinion like every other fee in this state. And like CA, when you apply they have it back to you before you can sneeze. Big thing is just keep the records you are required to keep and send in the forms when you are supposed to and there will be no problems.

On the Form 3-186.........you are correct. What is nice is you can type most of the info in, then print out the copies you need to send for signing.
