We have a 6 month old Pekin who started laying about a month ago. She was laying giant double yolk eggs one day and smaller ones other days. The last week or so she has been laying what I call paper eggs. I usually only find the remains of a very thin and soft shell. One day I found a perfectly formed membrane with a dusting of shell on it. The older female is laying fine. I am feeding them both laying pellets and let them roam the yard all morning. Does she just need more time to develop her reproductive system to produce consistent firm eggs?
