Does anyone know where I can get some swan eggs? I have been checking eggbid and they have not had any. Thanks

People often assume that, because chicken eggs and other domestics are easily shipped through the mail, the same applies to all species. Swans are much less prolific than these other birds. Fertility is often lower, the birds are much more valuable, and it's not always an easy task to remove eggs from a nest. Most serious breeders don't risk valuable eggs by playing that shipping game. Mutes are fairly easy to come by, and not too expensive as swans go. If you're lucky, you might occasionally find someone who doesn't want to be bothered hatching anymore, but then there's issues of hatchability in general. If you still haven't gotten goose eggs down yet, forget about trying to hatch swans. Work on your skills with geese for at least a few years, otherwise you're wasting your money. If you find eggs advertised from any other species, I'd be very wary of a scam. No one with Blacknecks, Coscorobas, or any of the tundra species is going to risk not being able to hatch them, in exchange for whatever they can get through mailing them, unless they know already that they're infertile. I saw Blackneck eggs advertised last year for $40 each. I almost guarantee it was a scam. I suggest save your money and buy some yearling Mutes, or Blacks. You do know what they're like, ......right??

Thank you so much for the advice. I have been doing a lot of reading about swans over the last few months. I assumed that hatching swan eggs would be comparable to duck eggs which I have been doing for quite some time. I truly appreciate you taking the time to answer my post and warn me of the scams and difficulties which I had not considered.
Have a Happy St. Patrick's day, Patrick!
