Hello, All!

I was a member of this forum a few years ago. Since then, I've gotten out of poultry. Recently, I just moved to a farm and am able to keep poultry once again. I started my flock last week with a few geese.

Today, I started my chicken flock with an order from Welp's Hatchery. I ordered 30 Buff Orpingtons, 5 Easter-Eggers and 5 Silkies.

I'm ready for chicks, but now I have to build a chicken coop. Can anyone provide some advice for someone getting back into the poultry world? Where should I begin?

A good place to begin is to have your facilities ready BEFORE you order birds. Keeping 40 chickens in the house will get old in a hurry.

The ABA has a great gallery of cooping ideas. http://www.bantamclub.com/photos/thumbnails.php?album=8

Thanks for the link, Evy! I looked at those photos and have some great ideas now! I do have facilities ready for them, but they're suited for chicks and smaller birds, and I'd prefer to make them something new and larger. I figured it would be a few months before I'd want them out in a chicken coop, anyway.
