We are new here and just wanted to say hello. We are researching and learning, and hoping to purchase some nice call ducks in the near future. Hopefully something our son can be competetive with in 4-H and later possibly get into other types of showing and raise a few ducklings.

You live in the right place. The Ohio Nat'l. Show is a good place to meet some of the top breeders in the country. If you get there Fri. afternoon, there're always good birds for sale.

Hello Evy, thank you. I had come apon a page for the National while internet surfing and that is not too far for us. Thank you for the advice, we will definitely go for Friday afternoon. 8-)
Any basic advice for call duck first timers? (we have pet ducks-I believe Khaki Campbells) laying hens (Rhodies) and our son did a broiler chicken project for 4-H this summer.
Thank you

You will really enjoy the Ohio Naitonal. There are hundreds of Call Ducks exhibited there each year so you will have a wonderful opportunity to see many varieties. We try to attend each year & do plan to be there this year as well. Many of the breeders arrive with their sale birds on Friday evening or early Saturday morning. There are always many Calls to select from in trader's row.
Were are you in Ohio as we also live in Ohio.

Thank you for the advice and welcome! Is there anything I should look out for (negatives or positives) when I am searching through trader's row?
Would there be anywhere to get a simplified overview of the color genetics?
Thanks!
