To those of you in the NY, New England, norhtern PA areas...don't forget the Eastern NY show in Cobleskill this Sunday, Sept. 27. It's an easy drive about an hour west of Albany, right on Rt. I-88. The last count was over 1100 birds entered. There's always a good sales area at this show as well as one of the biggest raffles you'll find at any show, including LOTS of 50# sacks of feed, fresh fruit & veggies & homemade pies ! Judging starts at 9:30. Hope to see some of you there.

I just returned form the Cobleskill show with a very nice trio of White Leghorn Bantams. Bought them from a fellow from Mass. Never did get his name. It's been many, many, years since I have been in the exhibition poultry hobby. Now that I'm retired, I hope to do more. I remember when this show was the Sherburn show back in the 1960's. Things have changed, breeds of chickens that I have never heard of were there. Oh well, got a lot of catching up to do. I guess my 1901 Standard Of Perfection is a little out dated. Come to think of it, it always was.I saw a lot of younger people there as well as women. Glad to see that, as you didn't see much of them when I showed years ago. Gary

About 5'8", gray, long, curly hair with a headband ? That'd be Ken Mainville, who has about the best btm. Leghorns around.
Re: women showing...there aren't too many of us yet, but we're gaining. It's the 1st ENYSPA show in 21 years I haven't entered, but I did go up for a few hours just to say ''hi'' to old friends. Lots of new faces there, too.

Sore loosers ! You should hear them squeal when a woman beats them with a little duck! It's pathetic.

Evy. That's the man who had the Leghorns. Real nice guy to talk to and buy from. Thanks for his name. Gary

Did you happen to pick up an exhibitors list? They make a great directory.

No I didn't. I wish I had, as I need all the help I can get. When I showed years ago there were at least four or five different people in my area who were in the business. There were also three feed mills not three miles apart that I could buy feed from. Now I don't know where to go other than Tractor Supply or Agway, and I'm not sure how good their feed is. Gary

It was a very nice show, I was kind of surprised how many entries there were - over 1100. Glad I went, congrats to Art on his little white drake (reserve champion of the show).
On a side note - if anyone mistakenly took a golden sebright hen with a green legband from the junior show at coop out, could you please email me. It is my daughters favorite bird and she is heartbroken. cchoate1@gmail.com
Thanks.

I would like to thank Evy & Jamie for working very hard to retrieve my daughters Sebright. Turns out the bird had got out of her cage, someone picked her up and put her in another exhibitors cage. We got her back yesterday, my daughter is elated!
