Matt, i have been raising white bantams for some time. They usually do good at the breed level, but needed a little something extra. I recieved a trio from George Beyer last year and did some crossing with my own stock and was pleasently suprised, they came out like i had hoped. We have a show at Hutchinson Kansas this coming sat. and will see how they stand up to the competition. You know how they always look like champions at home.

Can I ask a question about other varieties?
I don't have a standard in front of me, but there are many recognized varieties which I've never seen, even in Columbus. Can anyone name some of the uncommon varieties which are being worked with somewhere by someone, but which we rarely see? Or, maybe I should ask, which varieties haven't been seen by you leghorn guys in years?

Patrick,
Curtis Oakes has almost all the varieties in both RC and SC so I have seen them all even Mille Fluer. The quality has a bit to be desired and I would say by ranking the SC Whites are the best, followed by the SC LT Browns, RC Whites, RC Light Browns.
The SC white and SC Light are the most popular by far.

I am putting a data base togeather and have about five names and email address of people who want to get involved in starting a Leghron Club for different colored varities. This can be something much different and it can be communication by interent the first of its kind. Newsletters can be shiped by email and it wont cost the club a dime. I know all about how much it cost to send out a newsletter as the Rock Club Secetary. If you want to be on this data base and you have leghrons let me know. If you want to get into leghorn bantams or large fowl email me as well and you will find this will be a education style network as their are some very smart breeders of leghorns espesiallly in the different colors. We can help you find stock eggs or chicks to get started with in your area. Look forward to hearing from you and go to the forum that Matt has set up for us for more information or to ask questions. Matt,
I am having trouble logging onto the Leghorn site. Can I use my poultry connection user name and password or do I have to make up new ones?
Patrick,
I breed whites and am working on black tailed red Leghorns with help from John Thomforde, Bud Blankenship and several others. The results have been promising so far. I would be very interested in a Leghorn club. We tried to start one at the Crossroads show back in '06 but the people who ended up running it turned out to be less than trustworthy, promising premiums they did not deliver on. Bill Sandoe was one exhibitor who was cheated out of a substancial premium and I know he would be interested in joining a legitimate club.
