I have been considering supplementing rabbit pellets, in addition with laying pellets for by bantams, thinking it could have positive benifits from the alfalfa content in the pellet. It is hard for me to provide greens in my bantams diet, and I am considering this, what do you all think?
Thanks,
Greg
If you are feeding a complete ration, there is no need to supplement it. In some instances there may already be some alfalfa meal in the diet.
I believe rabbit pellets have more salt in them than is good for poultry. That aside, I''ve never found anything but rabbits that would eat them anyway.

My feed dealer used to stock 2 different items that were labeled rabbit pellets. one consisted almost entirely of alfalfa, my geese would eat them when there was no graze (i THINK they needed the fiber in their diet.) Ducks wouldn't eat them. I didn't have any chickens so I can't tell about them. The others were labeled as a complete rabbit ration. They were as hard as rocks to help keep the rabbits teeth worn down. No body would or could eat them. In general I agree with Rich. I did get alfalfa cubes (for horses) and the geese would drag them and soak them in the water. With our open winters the geese usually could find some graze in all but the worse weather when I would give them the cubes. I hoped this helped. ~gd
