Welcome to the flock!
Hi there! Call me Orca. I live in central Canada. =)
I got my first chickens July 27th of this year (two RIRx hens and two RIRx juveniles who turned out to be cockerels), and a couple weeks ago I went and got a white cochin pullet who was hatched in July. (Kept her in quarantine until Saturday, when my mom kept badgering me about introducing her to the flock because she was getting lonely.) They are all getting along fine. My only complaint is that the one hen as not laid a decent egg since early September. (Either nothing at all, soft shell, no shell, and sometimes no membrane. Feed contains calcium, and oyster shell is provided also.)
In the spring I hope to get some female chicks of the following:
Australorps
Orpingtons
Plymouth Rocks
Ameraucanas* (with one male to go with them)
Forgive me if some of my English is not right - as of yesterday some keys on this keyboard stopped working, so I have to copy and paste certain letters and characters one by one.
* True Ameraucanas.
Welcome to the flock!
Yes, Welcome. I have and like the Black Australorps, and 3 varieties of the Plymouth Rocks, White, Partridge and Barred. The partridge rock cockerels are very beautiful, though on the dark colors side. Good luck with your chickens.
Hi and welcome!
Hi to all! In this thread as well as in this forum. I hope that everyone is well. I am excited to be part of this forum and am looking forward to enjoying logging in here. Advanced Happy Holidays and all the best to us all!
Not chicken related, but if you take the keyboard and turn it upside down and give it a good shake, some times that will get the stuck keys working again. It's worth a try.
You are correct to do quarantine on the new bird. Better for her to be lonely for a couple of weeks than to have her bring some sort of disease into your flock. If she happens to be sick, let her show it before she gets to your other chickens. Next time, send your mom to us and we will tell her if she doesn't believe you.
Hi everyone and enjoy this forum.
