Why do you feel that you need antibiotics? Toenails....no big deal.
Let's talk about the duck. How old, how big, environment? Need many, many more details.

Most likely cause of the toenail is injury, so probably all you would need to do, if you want to do anything, would be to put some Neosporin ointment on it twice a day.

The first thing I think of with ducks and weak legs is niacin deficiency. That's a vitamin, not an antibiotic. If you are not already supplementing Niacin, you might try that first.

There are a lot of things that can go wrong with duck legs and it's just about impossible to diagnose over the internet. I'm not sure that there are any vets here, anyway.

I'd make sure the duck has a place to rest out of the sun where the ground isn't hot to stand on. Check the bottom of the feet for sores. Makes sure the duck is getting enough niacin, and then if it isn't better in a couple of days, it is probably veterinarian time.

    There are.
A responsible person, especially a veterinarian, would not respond to a post like this. There is not enough information to even hazzard a guess.

It may be limping if the toenail was ripped out. Time & the Neosporin will help. Proper feed & living conditions should eliminate the need for any supplements. More information, PLEASE.

    Evy,
It appears that this inquiry is the same person who started the thread "Is my duck OK" a couple of days ago. Wonder if it's the same duck?

    Smile My experience

I had a duckling this year that had an injured foot. It, like your duck, had a feverish foot and was limping. I washed the foot, soaked it several times in Epsom salt solution, dried it and applied corona ointment (a good ointment for livestock and human use) each time. I removed the bird from the flock and gave it a companion in a grassy fenced area that was not used for poultry. After 2 or three weeks the limp was minimal and no signs of injury remained. I returned both birds to the flock. About three days later the bird could no longer be identified by a limp.

If you have a large number of ducks or ducks and geese together it would be good to separate it where it is not stressed by all their activity and it can rest it's injured foot.

Best of luck with your duck.
