    Default Cobleskill, NY

Anybody gearing up for this beast on September 25th? I'm thinking on attending again as a spectator and hope to bring along a guest or two.

I expect I'll be there. That was the first show I ever participated in. It was 1962, I was 14. That was the first year for this show. BTW: I had Champion Bantam on a Blue Cochin Hen.

I just never seem to be available for this show, this year included. Other than the cement poultry friezes on the building at the NYS fairgrounds, Cobleskill has some of my favorite buildings of any fairgrounds.

I'd love to go but instead I'll be stuck leading a group in Costa Rica and Panama!

We better hope this rain stops SOON ! I'm told our cages & plywood are underwater as we speak !

Actually, I'm getting nervous myself. I DO NOT need to loose everything again, especially now that I'm alone !

The latest from Jamie on Cobleskill is that we have to cancel the show. The Nat'l. Guard has taken over the Fairgrounds as a staging area for ''an indefinite period of time''. There's so much damage from last week in that area & what we're getting today & tomorrow certainly won't help.
Please spread the word. Patrick, you'll have to take the weekend off anyway!

Oh Crap! I hope there is not a repeat. I noticed this am that the rivers were coming up here again. They still have a way to go before we have a problem but things are too close again. I hoping for you Evy.

What a shame, How about Bath this weekend? I know in Maryland we are getting slammed with rain. I think we have had 6-8 inches in the past 2 days. We live near a large dam and they have about 20 gates open, and I am certain that the Susquehanna has not even come close to cresting yet. Good luck to all

I think that is exactly what Evy is a little nervous about. I've been there in July when the river was low and you could still see how it could move huge rocks around.

Bummer about the show but even more about the risky state of affairs. Be safe!

The Bath show is ON!!! We have been working hard all week and are ready. No flooding issues here.

You will see one change due to the rain. In the past we have had large tents set up for Geese and large ducks. Due to the wet ground we will be housing waterfowl in the building next to our normal poutry show hall. Other than this it is business as usual.

And the forecast in Bath is for scattered showers as opposed to the deluge we've been getting today. So while I wish the forecast was clear skies I'll settle for the chance of scattered showers as opposed to a flat out monsoon.

Stay dry and we'll see you this weekend!

Evy is standing across the road from her house and the Susquehanna is 2 foot from her house.

Wish you could send some of that rain my way. It would help us both out. Things are so dry here in southern Illinois they are starting to ban any kind of burning.

    Keith,
An apology for not attending your show. We have been up there 3 years in a row until this year. It is one of my favorite shows of the year. We will be back there next year though. And to Evy, Good Luck. We also live right next to the Susquehanna, and they 48 of the 50 gates open, but we are on the top of a hill, so we lucked out. The town just below us, is going to be decimated though. They said that the river is going to crest 11-14 feet above flood level and it has not been that high since Hurricane Agnes back in 72'

Has anyone heard how she was faring. She probably has her hands full, but I hope she was spared any flooding or loss.

I spoke with her last night and this morning. The river crested last night and she could still see the top step before it went into the house. This morning the river is starting to go down a bit so she was pretty chipper. I think she was getting pretty anxious for a nice shower and sleeping in her own bed.

I'm very happy she is able to go home. The past few weeks have been disastrous for so many! I am from Upstate NY originally and have a few friends up there. Some are okay, others weren't so lucky.
