If you dont mind me askin, where did you get them from? My best advice for you would be to get some others and cross them into your line.
Guys,
I've got white Orp bantams hatching with blue legs. Not slate....bright blue. How in the world do I work my way back to "flesh" colored legs?
Before you ask....they were hatched from purchased hatching eggs. Should have been blues/blacks/splashes. Thought they might be recessive whites, but they breed true. All white offspring.....with bright blue legs.

White sports pop out Black or Blue Orps quite a bit. The White sports out of blacks will have slate legs. Since yours are blue they may be White sports with Blue or Splash base. I have large White Orps and they have the fleshy white legs. Most White Orps are recessive white. You will probably have to locate some bantam White Orps to get back the the white legs. Bantam White Orps are about as rare as hen's teeth.

Angela, BTW, I'm about 30 miles south of you this morning and I'll probably be looking a few Orps![]()
Good Golly, what are you doing up here? You're not visiting Fred, are you? He's got about the best STD Orps in this area. At least in the buff.
Thanks for the advice, and NO I won't name the source. I just won't bother with them again. Did that a few years back with some spectacularly bad STD blue Orps. Even though Angela (that would be me) spoketh the truth, I made some major enemies. I left this forum for two years due to Pathfinders chasing me all over the internet. I admire her loyalty, but don't shoot the messenger. At the time, I was much less confrontational, quit two breed clubs and two forums trying to get away from her. Now, bring it on. Life is to short to be bullied....but, there's no sense in going out of your way just to make trouble.
That's the problem with "breeders". Don't put them out there as show quality if you're not willing to take responsibility for the abominations. I don't call feathered shanks, crooked toes, and red hackles qualities to be desired in STD blue/black Orps. My quest for new blood set me back YEARS. I'm still seeing red in my hackles. And these from the "Top Breeders". Yeah, right.
Anyways, I'm on the search for new blood......I'll just let these go
What I take away from the above is, you're out for blood, and this Fred shows his chickens in the nude. Gives new meaning to the show me state.
Angela, I would recomend that you join the UOC if you are not already a member, there are a few breeders there that have bantams in all the colors.
Thank you, but no.
I was a district/state rep for the UOC, and I'm the one that did the original draft of the UOC's current constitution. Was a member for a longgggg time. Although there are some good people who are members....there are just as many bad. Been there, done that. Don't want to waste anymore precious time arguing with jerks, and I REALLY don't like the direction in which they are moving. I don't work and play well with others, and I also run with scissors so it's best that I stand clear.
Ah Patrick,
My friend, Fred Farthing, has been working on his flock for about 6 years now I think. He started with some fabulous birds, and has managed to keep them just a fabulous with good breeding choices. I like to think that I helped in that arena. He was always ahead of the game in the financial area, but I had the actual experience with the birds. I had been doing Orps since 1995. I'm so proud that he has done so well. He was a quick study. It's been all him for the last 3-4 years. Hummer will tell you that he's a formiddable opponant.....naked birds or not. I adore my Fred.
Yep, Mr. Fred put me to work sorting and banding all day longThe weather there was a little cooler than what I have been used to and when I had to bring out a jacket my body almost went into shock!!! LOL. I think that cooler weather may be the reason Fred's Orps had a few more feathers than mine do right now!!! Fred has done quiet well with his large Buffs. So well in fact that I had to give him a little pep talk....since we have the consisitency down we might not have to hatch as many next year
Hummer
Fred likes to hatch....en masse. Good luck talking him out of it
Wish he had told me that you were coming, I would have come by.
