Thread: Pekins

    Default Pekins

We are hopefully getting a pair of exhibition Pekin ducks this weekend from a breeder that got her original stock from WI or MN, but I can't actually find any other Pekin breeders that have exhibition birds. We've had the hatchery versions off and on, but our three year old really likes big white birds, and was going to buy white Muscovy, but we just happened to run across the Pekins first, so we are both appeased. (I don't like the Muscovy, and he just wants big and white...so its the best of both worlds.) Any suggestions on where to look for another breeder pair so we can work with two pairs? Micah (our son) wants to see them so we were hoping to find someone that would be coming to Crossroads with some that he can talk to in person.
    THANKS!

I don't have anyone to recommend, but want to tell you that the Pekin is an excellent choice.

Crossroads of America Poultry Show is October 28-29-30, 2011 at Indianapolis Indiana. There should be some excellent Pekins there, and very likely some nice ones for sale.

    Edit: Indiana State Fairgrounds.

Here's his contact info: Richard A. Hare 12332 Springville Boston , Springville, NY 14141-9638 716/592-0766 It would be best to contact him before Crossroads, he probably won't bring Pekins unless he has orders for them. He also sells out pretty quick so best to get in line & yes, his are very nice.

Thank you for his contact info. I will be in attendance at Crossroads. We are only an hour from the fairgrounds and we are hoping to do well with a couple young Welsh Harlequins we hatched. They are coming along nicely! So we are hopeful!!! Out of everything we have almost ready to show this year I think the Welsh Harlequins will probably be out best. We are hoping to get a nice gold phase welsh harlequin drake in order to breed some nice golds as well, we have some nice females but no drakes. (already have a nice drake arranged for delivery too!) See you all in Indy!
