G'day Henry! welcome to the forum. I'll try not to hold your profession against you. I have a nice collection of crowns and bridges in my mouth but nobody warned me that gums recede and roots decay faster than teeth so now I am facing inplants. Naturally this came about after I retired and no longer have dental benefits through my job. Enough about dental care, there is a assortment of farm subjects that you can choose on this site but to be truthfull mostly the subjects of raising and showing poultry and waterfowl are the active ones. Mostly the people here have a large amount of experience in this area. they usually check in once a day to answer questions and discuss subjects. Due to the time difference most of us will be sleeping during your evening period so their responce may seem slow to you. I have carried on with Australia both with email and on forums like this and that has always been a problem. Also many of the breeds that we have were never inported to Australia and are not likely to be in the future. Final note we all speak English but there can be huge differences in meaning for the same term like when we are using slang. If something doesn't sound right ask. We have a couple of people that get nasty at the use of Chook for chicken or roo for Rooster so be warned.

I know a little bit about cattle, from the standpoint of raising a few head on pasture for the family. I've had in-laws with dairy herds and relatives and in-laws with commercial beef herds. There are a couple of other people who know something about cattle on this site.

So we'll at least try to answer questions. Or just chat. I'll talk about cattle just to be talking about cattle.

    Me too, that's why I didn't respond.

    Hi Henry,
I run a few head, but don't really know all that much. Be happy to help if I can.

Welcome Henry. I have been around cattle off and on all my life. Don't know if I can be of any help but, a friend has raised a lot and maybe I can ask him for you. He just sold off his last bunch a year ago. He kept 38 at his home and moved them to summer grazing in the neighboring state. He built his herd up from a single cow and can tell you a lot about breeding. So, maybe between all of us we can help.

And Goosedragon is right about the language difference so if something seams a little odd or strange ask for an explanation.
