Why Did He Have U Curious? Prob Just another Meat Buyer buying Everyones Culls??? You Should Have Asked him, From What I hear he Buys Alot Of Show Quailty stuff For Someone's Fair string, But maybe some would come Forward with more info????
Went to the Bath Poultry Auction today, seemed to be a lot of people, especially first thing in the morning. I was rhere to sell more than buy, bid on a new tom but backed out. Also bid on a few other birds, especially those nice looking black and white splash fantails. I came home empty handed but thats ok, I have enough birds as it is, and will wait to replace my Naragansett tom til Fall or next Spring.
I'm curious about something, or rather someone. The young guy with short blond hair that goes around buying all sorts of birds and packing them in crates on the floor... Does anyone know what he and his helpers do ? Im guessing he's selling to reseraunts or something, but the way he works the auction like a stock trader, especially today, had me curious.

No nefarious reasons at all, just wondering if it is possible to make a living or at least a good income doing something like that. Seemed to be buying and selling at the same time. As for asking, I have a hard enough time hearing the auctioneer sometimes let alone carry on a conversation.
It's difficult for me to imagine making any money by buying and then re-selling poultry. The general public around here has been pretty thoroughly trained to think that poultry is free and that anything else is over-priced. So you couldn't get birds cheap enough at an auction to turn them for a profit.
Anyone close to the fingerlakes Area I Am Looking for anything u have for sale, roosters, Hens, muscovie Drakes, Pond Ducks, Rabbits 4Lbs + Pigeons,,, Gimme a message!!! I need Large Numbers or Small and i Pay Well!!! Thank You
I've seen that guy at work & one needs to watch him carefully. He tends to get other people's boxes ''mixed'' up with his.

ohhh Thanks, But Last Time i checked I Have Never mixed up my Boxes... It Goes From The Selling Cage to MY crate, Once Crates Full it goes to the truck.... No Mix Up here... 2nd I Bought choice of 18 roosters at bath and a lady and her kids wanted one of them and i let her have one at my cost... so i maybe all about making a profit but i am not a total jerk... I Guess its a hard Hobby to be in when people who dont know you judge you and wanna say things that are not true..
Wow...someone has a guilty conscience. I don't know who you are, VSPNY, so I have no idea if you're the person I was refering to at Bath & other north-east auctions. All I do know if that the person I've seen is watched carefully & I know of some who've found their ''accidentally mixed '' birds on that person's truck. Sadly, this is a reoccuring problem at most shows & sales.
