    Exclamation Young duckling getting bald

Me and my boyfriend rescued a very young duckling from being killed by another mother duck. We had her for two weeks now and she(or he) is also around that age. Everything has been going well, but since a few days we notices that she keeps scratching at her neck and that the feathers there are dissappearing. We also notices that she is getting bald and dirty around her eyes and beak. We let her swim very often but she really doesn't like it so much. Is there something I should be concerned about? should I take her to a vet? or is this perfectly normal?
I have never in my life raised a duck, so I really hope you guys can help me out!

My best guess, without seeing her, is that she is losing her baby fluff and growing feathers.

It appears to me that feathers itch when they are first growing in, because all my ducklings get "itchy" about that time.

However, 2 things i suggest that you do: make sure she has clean water deep enough to duck her entire head several times a day. Otherwise, she will get crusty eyes. The other thing is to take her into good light and use your best eyes to examine her for tiny little bugs. Around the vent and the underside of the wings are good places to look.
