    Default after the hatch

Hi, I have managed to hatch a few birds out and have them on wire with heat lamp on them and they seem to be doing ok. my question is how long do you keep them on wire defore putting them on ground.

Actually if you have just hatched out some chicks you should have the wire covered with an old towel or some other type of cloth for them to walk on for a few days. I keep mine on wire until they are well-feathered and pretty much able to take care of themselves.

Thanks for the reply Leo, I do have a white towel down for them to walk on. but I was talking to one of the locals around here and he said he's kept birds on wire for two months
before, then as soon as he put them on the ground they would die, what could cause
    that.

Well that sounds odd unless they are picking up something off the ground that is killing them. I usually keep mine on wire for about 2 months and then put them on the ground and I have never had any problems.
