    Default Tulsa State Fair Results

The poultry show at the Tulsa State Fair was this past weekend. The Tulsa State Fair in it's heyday (formerly Oil Capital) was a very large show but for various reasons it had dwendled down to about 350 birds due to superintendent issues. We have been working on getting the numbers back up and this year the total number was just short of 2000 birds. It was a full day for the four judges. It is still not as large as it's heyday years but at least we got a better handle on coops available for future growth. One exhibitor entered almost 700 birds and we are ALL still sore after pitching in to get them packed and on their way!!! Here are the results:

It would have been even larger if there hadn't been a conflict with another show that same weekend. I feel certain that this will not happen again now that we are more aware.

Actually, there were two shows going in Oklahoma that weekend and two shows (which some of the normal exhibitors from Tulsa went to) in Arkansas the same weekend. The show in Pine Bluff was much larger than normal and I understand they had to triple deck. For people preaching gloom and doom about the poultry shows I am just not seeing it for the most part. We have already talked to them at the Tulsa State Fair to move the show back a week to avoid conflicts since I no longer will have any obligations that week. That puts it on the week of the Junior Livestock show at Tulsa and that always gets a little crazy but the fairgrounds has easy access and you drive right into a climate controlled breezeway to unload your birds. The downside for me of moving the show back a week is I'll miss alot of the Open Horse shows going on that week. This past weekend when it was getting a little crazy I would go over and talk to the Percheron horses for something sane to talk to!!!! LOL.

Out of 2000 birds, couldn't those Twisted Feather people let someone else win a few?

Nah! Probably wouldn't see the humor in it. How about a TF East partnership. Share the wealth, as it were.
