I was given a pair of adult breeding Pekins in early August and have introduced a female to the flock when she was 2 weeks old. She is now 11 weeks. The young female has started to walk making a gurgling, cooing sound while rapidly dipping her head down to one side or the other. The adult female does this now but not as much. Is this part of a mating ritual? If so, isn't it too early for the young one to start this behavior? The adult duck (we think) has just started laying healthy looking eggs yesterday. These are our first eggs and we are very excited. We are new to ducks and find this site very informative. We'd appreciate any feedback.
