I have a 4 month old turkey who's head started swelling a few days ago. Looked like a balloon on top of her head. Now the face, neck and chest area are ballooning out. It's not a whole lot. There are no other symptons, eating fine, preening, no discharge, breathing normal, poo is normal. I could not find any marks resulting from trauma. I took a syringe to try and drain, because I thought it was a fluid accumulation but it's all air, no fluid at all! Any advice? Or should I just keep "deflating" my turkey. Could it possibly be a respiratory rupture causing the air accumulation?
Thank you in advance for your replies. P.S. At least she has a name now.....Airhead |

Hi, Emm
May I suggest you try the turkey board It has very good breeders there They are located at RareHeritageTurkey@yahoogroups.com people reply by email so I would suggest you use a secoundary email. They have been very helpful with my turkeys. Glenda suggested it to me and it really has helped out alot. I do remember seeing a pic of a turkey on their site that had a swollen head but, I do not remember the cause or what exactly it was. Good luck. donald |

Thank you Donald, I will try contact them. She is "deflating" a bit each day, but I would like to know what caused it for future reference.
