Hello to all. I have been a member for a couple of years but have never posted anything. I thought I would share my latest poultry project (still under constuction). A short while back, I found 2 stray dogs in my small chicken pen. They had killed all 6 of my easter eggers. It was a bad day (for all). I have since demolished that old pen and I am in the middle of replacing it with a larger pen and coop. It is housing 8 buff orpingtons, 8 barred rocks, and 8 silver laced wyandottes of which I think one is a rooster. I'm about 90% done with the coop and about 80% with the pen. I had to put them in the coop yesterday because they were outgrowing the brooder they were in. The coop will be red with white trim when done.

Nice job! Looks like your pullets will be living large.I like the way you set up the water looks like low maintenance as far as cleaning. The 5 gal bucket, do you have to fill it or is it auto fill?

Thanks for the positive feedback. I will post more pics as I progress. The bucket is a 100 lb pool chlorine bucket. I think it is closer to about 10 gallons. I got the idea from a guy I work with at the fire house. He has the same setup except he uses a 55 gallon plastic drum. Every time he fills it up, he adds a little bleach. He says there is virtually no maintenence. I will have to fill it up with a water hose when it is low. There is an access window on the wall with the nest box doors.
