I have only received jpegs of the BB from open and the RB from junior- they got posted to the NCBA website the day that they came in. I have not received any other BV or RV photos yet, once I do, I will get them uploaded.

Is it just my eyes or monitor or are all the lower pictures shown three acrost streched in the width dimension or srunk in the height dimensions? They look (to me on, my screen) to be very racy type for call ducks. I like the racy type but I don't think the breeders do. Evy do they look right to you?

Take into consideration though some of the top breeders didnt show up this year!!! Last year there was alot more varieties shown as well, and there is a few new varieties being shown this year!
I dont think Art Lundgren was there Darrell Sheraw and Brian Simmons which all payed a big part in everything at the 2008 meet! Correct me if Im wrong though! |

I have come up with a picture that I would like to use for my posts but when I try to get it down to size it always comes out destorted so the problem was on my mind. Back to bed! it is bad when you get old and can't sleep through the night anymore.~gd |

I guess it's all in what one consider's 'top' breeders. There were certainly many breeders/exhibitors at the show that I would consider of that caliber. Certainly every breeder will not be at every show. When a National Meet of a Club moves around the country, it allows members in that part of the country to participate if they'd like, a person that lives in South Dakota for instance and pays their dues should have a chance to attend/show in a meet close to them on occasion... Granted numbers at the show may not be as impressive as numbers from another part of the Country, but all members should be given that opportunity. The number of Calls at the Iowa City Show were near record levels, right off hand I can't think of a variety that was not represented. Some of those Smiths, Jones or Millers that were able to show at Iowa might not be what 'you' would consider top breeders, such as the Sheraws, Simmons (who no longer even raises call ducks from what I'm told) or Lundgrens, but perhaps in ten years that will be a different story for those people... A 'top' breeder does not necessarily always win the show.

I havent seen the Blue Silver, this variety I dont think was at the last years Nationals was it??? But like I said Im not disagreeing with you Dennis and understand what your saying, just saying a few of the other varieties NOt white, gray , butters, and a few of the other popular varieties was a little racy but still very nice calls! Relooked at the picture and the ones that seem racy, I dont think really is they are turned at and angle of looking away from the camera! Plus a few you can tell they was flattening there heads due to the photo and everything else going on! Last edited by briarpatchfarms; 01-20-2010 at 11:32 PM. |

I had a hard time figuring out which picture from the Nationals was the Blue Silvers so I could upload them to the NCBA Website , I finally found a picture of them on a website about call ducks in England. We are starting to get as bad as the Old English exhibitors with all these colors...
There were some heavy hitters showing at the Iowa Show, and the Butterscotch entries were the best I have seen at any show...and there were alot of them there..I think 87, which is the most I have ever heard of. Jerry |
